Mo Farah accompanied by his wife and daughter receives a hero’s welcome in Somaliland today after he returned to his birth country. Mo Farah who is known worldwide as one of the top long distance runner and this year’s 5000M gold winner of the World Championships in Athletics. Welcoming the world famous runner at Berbera International Airport were Minister of Sports and Youth, Minister of Aviation, governor of Saahil, mayor of Berbera and hundreds of youths. Mo Farah and his family were also accompanied by his friend Somali singer Mohamud Omar Yare.

Mo who spoke with the press for few moments thanked all those that came to welcome them back to Somaliland and that he will do all he can to enlighten the world about Somaliland. Mo Farah gained tremendous support from Somaliland citizens after he displayed Somaliland flag to millions of audience when he won gold for the 10,000M at the European Championship in 2010. Just last month at the 2011 World championships in Athletics, Mo won silver in the 10,000m and gold in the 5000m. Farah who won British’s first ever men’s European gold medal at the 10,000m is also favorite to win gold in London 2012.
